Keratoconus Disorder

Keratoconus (KC) is a disorder of the eye which results in progressive thinning of the cornea. Which results in slow and progressive loss of vision.

Treatment of Keratoconus

1. Corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL)

With riboflavin (vitamin B2) and UV-A light is a main stay treatment for keratoconus.

2. Corneal Ring Implants

Two thin arcs of polymethyl methacrylate are slid between the layers of the stroma on either side of the pupil before the incision is closed by a suture. The segments push out against the curvature of the cornea, flattening the peak of the cone and returning it to a more natural shape.
